Lakeport School has an excellent teaching staff and we are proud of the education our students receive in every classroom. As class lists were made for next year, several criteria were used to determine student placement. Since we try to balance and achieve well-rounded classrooms, we are not able to honor further parent requests for the 2008/09 school year. Please keep in mind that staffing changes may occur over the summer.
Have a terrific summer. The entire Lakeport Staff looks forward to working with you and your child/children next fall.
SUGGESTED SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR 2008/2009 SCHOOL YEAR. Many parents like to shop for school supplies over the summer when the sales start. Rather than wait for the first day of school to give you a supply list, our teachers have worked on a supply list for you to have over the summer. These items are desired items, but not required. All students will be provided the appropriate supplies by the school if these items can’t be brought in.

The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, a federal legislation, affords students and their parents certain rights with respect to their education records, including the Districts directory information. This includes:
- *name, address and telephone number
- *date and place of birth
- *program of study
- *school activities
- *dates of school attendance
- *honors and awards
- *other information such as honor roll, yearbook, etc.
The District has a responsibility to disclose such information upon appropriate request. However, parents can ask that directory information on their son(s) and/or daughter(s) be withheld from public release. To do so, a letter must be sent to the building principal asking that such directory information not be given out. When students reach 18 years of age, the law transfers this right to them.
Information that is not indicated on the above list will not be given to any person or organization without a court order. Student records are sent to other schools upon the written request of either the parents of the student or the officials of the requesting school.
